Regional awards
Here at Quartet of Nations Region 31, we celebrate the achievements of our members in various areas of singing a cappella four-part harmony in barbershop style.
Each year, chapters who excelled on stage are recognised at the annual regional convention. The regional awards are:
- The Beryl Mort Award is given to the chorus with the highest score in the music category and scoring over 500 overall.
- The Jean Miller Rose Bowl is awarded to the chorus with the highest score in the showmanship category and scoring over 500 overall.
- The chorus with the biggest improvement in scores from the previous year is awarded the Vi Steele Quaich.
- Medals are given to the quartet with the biggest improvement in scores from the previous year.
Both quartet and chorus champions at regional convention are awarded prize money in contribution to their expenses to represent Region 31 at the Sweet Adelines International Convention. Prizes are also given to those who earned wildcard places and the Harmony Classic competition as well as the returning top 15 quartets.
In addition to musical recognition, we also honour individual members who served tirelessly for her chapter or the region and demonstrated the Sweet Adelines values of “real women, real harmony, real fun”. The Women of Note awards was introduced in 2016 to celebrate the unsung heroes in the Quartet of Nations. These women are honoured in a presentation during the weekend of the annual regional convention.
