We are Edge of Chaos: four chaotic friends from Viva Acappella chorus in Kent, who decided in March 2024 that it might be quite fun to sing as a foursome.
Our quartet is truly based on a lovely friendship and a lot of banter and sarcasm. At first, rehearsals frequently involved tasty food, a drink or two and a lot of laughter… followed by a little bit of singing. And as time has gone on we’ve enjoyed the singing element more and more – deciding in 2025 to put on our big girl pants, be brave, and sign up to compete.
So who are we? Jackie, our tenor (member of the grammar police), is a seasoned barbershopper and has sung in three previous quartets over the last 35 years. Conversely Charlotte, our lead (book worm and music geek), is a relative newbie. She’s never sung in quartet before, and only found barbershop through a mum and baby singing group run by Helen. So that brings us to Helen, our baritone (random idea queen). Helen has sung barbershop since the age of 12, and this is her third quartet. She’s also our social media guru, and nothing is off limits for content! And finally Susan, our bass (consummate host). Susan likes flamingos and has a cat that likes to attack the other quartet members. She has also never sung in quartet before but is no stranger to barbershop singing, having previously dipped her toe with White Rosettes and Cheshire Chord choruses.
