Dorothy Main

Aberdeen Chorus

Why nominated

The Management Team had no hesitation in nominating Dorothy Main as our 2026 Unsung Champion.
Dorothy is certainly no stranger to Region 31. Over the years, she has given extraordinary service in a wide range of roles: Past Region Treasurer, Region Faculty, Chorus President, Chorus Treasurer, Chorus Assistant Director, MC at many chorus performances, Section Leader, Quartet Liaison, Show Chair, Music Team Member, and Afternoon Singers Director — and that is by no means an exhaustive list.
Since stepping down as Assistant Director in 2025, Dorothy has continued to work quietly in the background, supporting the chorus in countless ways. Her dedication does not seek recognition, which makes this nomination all the more fitting.
Dorothy is always willing to help and support members in learning their music and enhancing their performance. Her encouragement, musical knowledge, and steady presence make a lasting difference to everyone around her.

Bio

Dorothy joined the chorus in 1988 and has truly become Chorus Royalty. Her commitment, leadership, and passion have shaped the chorus across decades. She has also sang in numerous quartets including more recently a mixed quartet.
When she’s not at rehearsal, Dorothy enjoys helping her husband, Michael, with his racing pigeons — a pastime she supports with the same enthusiasm and dedication she brings to everything she does.
