This year Lorraine has volunteered to take on many important tasks for the chorus.
When our directors decided to plan a 6-week free vocal course as part of a membership drive, Lorraine welcomed the attendees and learned tags in all 4 parts in case any of the section leaders were unable to attend any of the sessions. She organised the publicity for the course, printing and distributing flyers, writing articles for local magazines and giving an interview on local radio. She is also coordinating our Mission: Retention, having created an exciting chart to monitor our progress. She is our make-up coordinator. She is about to join the admin Board as Travel Coordinator. As a small chorus we sometimes have problems with finding enough people to sing bass. Lorraine is a baritone at heart, but she has learned a few of our repertoire songs in bass and even sang bass at convention last year! She never misses an opportunity to spread the word about Solent Sounds.
Lorraine joined Solent Sounds at its inception over 30 years ago. She has been President of the Admin Board as well as Publicity Coordinator. On the Music Team she was make-up checker and a key member of the choreography team. She was part of a chorus octet called “Pick’n’Mix”. Unfortunately, a few years ago personal circumstances caused Lorraine to leave Solent Sounds although she remained Chapter At Large. When she decided to rejoin, she stipulated that she was ONLY going to sing! However, as you can see, this is far from what actually happened!
